Why Sporked?
Sporked first started out as my layout archive site. One fine day, I decided I should archive my work, since it is fun to look back on these things. So, that is exactly what I did with Sporked. My friend Sarah thought of the name, since she likes sporks, and hey, I like them too :).
But now days, Sporked represents my boredom. I love making layouts and graphics, and am the type of person up for a challenge. I’m also very much of a perfectionist, following my own style, and discovering new and splendid ways to do it. My layouts range from complicated to incredibly simple, from those that follow webdesign fads to ones that bring us back to the good old days. In either case, if you need someone to make something different and difficult, go ahead and ask. I am also around to give ideas, since I love ideas for layouts, and would happy to suggest anything to you for free.
For now, I just watch here, designing whenever I feel like it, in whatever way I feel best. Webdesign is an art, and being so, it highly reflects the designer. So this is one way I really look at it differently from others. I also don’t make money off of webdesign that much, since I DO refuse offers from companies and people if they don’t interest me. How can you design something with your whole heart if you don’t like it yourself?
General Information
Sporked layouts is a combined layout service and archive. It’s purpose to develop new designs or perhaps help those who have layout block. At sporked layouts you can request custom made layouts complete with graphics and designs, look through our own layout archives, or pick some of the free customizable layouts that are available. Although Sporked Layouts is a free and custom layout site, we concentrate on custom made designs as they become more personal and outdo any free layout. In general, we have been webdesigning for a total of 4 years and own 10 sites which are listed at MyCurry.Net
Current Layouts
Version 4: Birds of Edo
This layout was fully vectored in Photoshop and Illustrator, and was actually one that was recycled from a mock-up I did for Fanime con. I was sick and tired of the empty space in Version 3 and wanted something more professional looking yet beautiful at the same time. This is what I came up with. It also gave me more room to work with and was completely in DIV CSS so I had no margin problems.
Previous Layouts
Underneath you will find previously layouts of Sporked with small descriptions. Larger and detailed descriptions can be found elsewhere.
Version 3: A Sunshine Story made of Scribbles.
The current layout was actually fully hand drawn in Illustrator and then manipulated in Photoshop. It’s very simple, but it made way for textpattern so I made it so. The outlying theme was the summer and pineapples lol. I really love pineapples so I wanted something bright with ALL solid colors, which is why you see no type of texture on this layout whatsoever. Furthermore, I did not want to box the menu off, so it was the best way to do this.
Version 2: Jeanne De Arc (Redone)
This layout was just a little bit edited version of the original found here. I just wanted something new since I hated version 1. I had done the original for a layout contest, but since it won 3rd place I asked Maron about it and she said I could just use it for Sporked at the time being. After editing I came up with this. It was nice overall and I was planning to add a footer but I never did. I was really bad at table/div layouts back then.
Version 1: Daily Chores
For more info on this layout please click here. In this layout I just wanted something really simple. I was perhaps my second tableish type layout, since I was very much into iframes back then, hence it was just supposed to be for my layout archives. I came up with the named Sporked since my friend Sarah was around and suggested it.
