Process : This layout was actually a bit more tougher than it looks. I don’t usually make light layouts with an image that sort of blends into the background, so it was hard to make myself do this. I first took the image of Robin out of its background and then I applied effects to it so I could fade it out into the background and blend it in at the same time. I duplicated the image around 3 times and color overlayed to make a sort of vectored background effect and then I drew a little see-through apple thing to put in her hand as well. And then I made the background where the text went, using shapes of all sorts and then my pen tool. It was really difficult because I had to keep enough room for the text without making it blanked out. Hence, what I did was make a gradient on top of it and also duplicate the entire layer and put it behind the original, layer masking and then overlaying in a way to look as a background. Then, I added various patterns using a layer dump pattern and then cutting around them. I did the same thing with some brushes and then used the text to the bottom. The interesting thing was the use of lines I used not only on top of where the content would go, but also underneath in opacified colors and patterns. Then, I added another gradient on top, along with different black and white images of Robin that were previously hued to different colors, blending them around the layout in different rotations. Then, a bit perplexed on where I would add the text, I decided to just place it apart of the layout itself, thus using the different text transform options to make them fit like skin around the layout, making sure to have a brighter overlap to lighten the layout up. After all this it was just a bit tough to pick colors that would pick on the colorful background, but besides that the layout was pretty much done. I erased around some places to make it seem less solid.
Description : A Nico Robin layout, looking at some sort of shape, a lot of vector effects. The image itself is blended into the background of shapes where the content goes, and links that shape around this larger background to fit in for the fanlisting. The layout itself was pretty simple looking but the steps took a lot of thought. It didn’t really have a purpose, except I had to use light colors because the original image was way to bright and in order to fade out the bright colors and lack of clarity, I had to use duller colors and balance it out this way.
