Process :
I was just tired of vectors after so many at once, so decided that this time, I would not vector anything- I ended up with this layout. The layout itself was really simple, since there were only two chapters of the manga series released at the time I did this- there really wasn’t ANYTHING I could use to work with. Hence, I did a manga outline type layout with very random colors that matched in the hues. I love gradients, so I wanted to do something simple and nice, with some more movement in the types of shapes I used. The shapes for the bottom of the footer and the top header I created with the pen tool, just playing around with it really. It turned out actually much better than I had expected, which was really nice.
The part that really ate at me about the layout was the middle half between the two character in the header. There really weren’t any images that would fit there, so I just took the japanese word for “Frankenstein” and stuck it there. It looked really cool, and making it a shade of grey gave the layout a sort of release from all of the easter colors. Centering the layout properly and repeating the header and footer was a really good idea, but the coolest thing was that the background color is lighter than the ending gradient in the footer. When it doesn’t have a scrollbar, it looks especially nice this way, making it have more of a drop down effect. I really liked the layout overall, and considering that I made it only about one hour time and coded in another hour, I was pretty proud of it. It was very light hearted.
Description :
Ras, Fury, and Edel in the header with navigation below them. The footer consists of basic shapes, and the entire layout is surrounded by gradients and side repeating backgrounds. Pretty simple overall.
